  1. Anything in the states is unlikely to be compliant with the BS EN standards £850 buys a Videofied panel and a couple of detectors, Visonic is probably the better route for your budget, forget the cameras.
  2. Also If you think Visonic stuff is expensive your gonna **** yourself when you see the the prices of the proper stuff
  3. The cameras only work with the Real not the standard Powermaster as far as I know?
  4. I am sure it seems like you are getting the third degree here, however, as has been already said you are asking very basic questions. It seems like your a little naive running an alarm company with very little knowledge or experience, and poorly run companies with engineers that have little or none experience give the industry a bad name. I am sure that you are doing your best, and the reason you are here is that you are trying to learn, but you seem to be out of you depth which again is worrying. If you asked any one of the alarm company owners here how they started their business and learned their trade none of it would be thanks to the forums, most id guess over 99.9% would have started off working for another alarm company.
  5. It wont be possible to PM Craig as you have not done enough posts
  6. Plus your time, I would rather pay someone to do stuff than diy it myself, I value my free time. I'm not knocking what your doing though, if you are happy doing it yourself then thats fine.
  7. Motion light sensor normally output mains to switch on a light
  8. Like-for like-possibly, I would say nearer 2 hrs, but changing it for a new late panel 3 or 4 hours, inc changing all the eols etc. And if it goes wrong they come back and replace it free.
  9. I wouldnt rely on a real bird to direct me to the nearest expensive handbag store, as I would be diverted via the expensive shoe shop and the expensive dress shop
  10. If its new then I assume they give some sort of warranty, just check the feedback first
  11. Hi Dave I would be guessing the current draw but would say 2 or 3 days on a fully charged battery, but if the battery is charging at 10v then not very long if at all. I cant answer Q 2 as I havent really played with Scantronic panels since the 9500 panel. But I think if you are changing the panel like-for-like you need to get one thats nearly new, or unused. Otherwise you will end up with one with the same problems or worse more problems. I would always recommend you replace it with a new panel rather than second hand, I get the green thing and I understand the money issue but sometimes its a false economy for a few quid extra
  12. The pirs should see up to 15 meters at 90 degrees but normally you would expect the intruder to have entered half way through the window at least
  13. The one that came with my jag is very good, I speak the postcode whilst driving along, she tells me if there's a traffic jam ahead and gives me alternative routes. I tell her I'm hungry and she tells me where the nearest eateries are. And to go home I just say navigation go home brilliant
  14. Hi And welcome to the forum I dont understand why you are not fitting an actual alarm system rather than a PCB? Does the property have more than two rooms? is it ever going to get bigger? None of us could say whether the detectors are any good or not as they are different from the ones we use in the UK though Risco is sold over here it is what we would call the cheaper end of the market
  15. Thats what I said! The external sounder is the bell output, nobody uses bells anymore so why call it a bell output?
  16. We get this quite a bit, but how are we making money out of advising you to buy a new panel we dont sell them we install them. I appreciate that you are trying to be green by not throwing away something that works, but meanwhile your neighbors are thinking that pooxy alarm is always going off. We are giving you advice from experience, we see this stuff everyday we know the expense of trying different tests only to end up replacing the panel in the end anyway
  17. Connect the sound bomb to the external sounder output wire in parallel with the existing wiring make sure that you do not exceed the current rating for the bell output though
  18. If the battery is only producing 4v then it will be pulling current from the panel and has been pulling current from some time, the 14v coming from the charging circuit is telling you nothing as its not on any load. Your panel is powered from the battery and the battery is kept charged from the charging circuit, this way the detection and panel gets a steady 12vdc. The mains into your panel is appx 240vac sometimes it can be 220vac sometimes it can be as high as 600vac it is never 240vac exactly without a battery the 12v will be fluctuating up and down with the mains supplied. This will effect the CPU and detection giving allsorts of problems but seeing the battery is as old as it was I would agree with everyone that the panel is fried
  19. You could speak to the bloke that writes mine, we print a jsheet straight from AM upload and send it to the engineer, he fills it in and clicks a button it emails a copy to the customer and returns it to us we save it to AM and send customer an invoice.
  20. Buying a cheap CCTV system is a bit like filling your car up with water instead of petrol, it will give you the impression of a full tank but you wont be able to drive anywhere which is the whole point.
  21. Hi Snadge. What you are asking for is a camera thats wireless and will record to itself that you can log into and view the recordings. It doesnt need to identify whoever it is thats damaging your property? Im not sure if what you want has been invented yet, but it sounds really good......... but not very useful
  22. We used it a while back and found it a pita and waste of money it may be improved now but its a bit expensive so we made our own web based app. Jeff uses it and says its great
