    whilst I remember,

Zylex or whatever I f*cked about for hrs trying to get one going that had been in place & working for a couple of months, they'd changed to fibre I'd was still forwarding on adsl rather than Ethernet

I had one of those last month, The IT guy changed the ******* password and forgot it!

tried to crash it but it restored itself each time. It loaded up as default but then reverted straight away, I ****** it off in the end and told them to get the IT guy back to sort it

Why is it unreasonable to not want to be attached to an 18 month contract just so I can operate my alarm system without ADT.? Sounds like you could do with a vacation chap.

Why is it unreasonable for a service provider to want an agreement in place to offer support of a particular kind?

    Hi All,

Apologies for the absence - I've spent several days trying successively ever-more radical methods to recover from the mess that I had been left in after the Windows 10 'fall update'. As usual with these things it just went from bad to worse so in the end I had to resort to an ISO disc that I made in October 2016. The bottom line is that I am about half way through re-building the system with about another weeks work ahead of me. Fortunately all the data is securely backed up.

You are of course absolutely right al-yeti about the battery. The unset light etc. problems have now returned and I now have the additional problem that without mains power the keypad is inoperative. I don't have time atm, but it will have to be a factory reset. I'll keep you posted.

For those of you who were kind enough to show an interest, the stent is behaving well and I start an 8 week rehab. prog. on Monday.

As James and Six have said, you will need to check battery and battery fuse/charging circuit.

glad to hear you are recovering well.

my Grandad is in a poor condition at the moment with a very poorly heart and kidneys, his outlook is very bleak.

I still think they trying to fix dodgy firmware on some stock hence delay shipping .....

Ha ha, no need too, Texe are one of the few that openly admit any issues and try to resolve quickly.

real engineers upgrade firmware on site if needs be.

i got no time for manufacturers that sit on issues and claim “they have never had this problem before” AKA Blagufacturers

Lol. Obviously, I've since replaced it with speaker wire buried under the insulation from BetterBuys. #looksgreat

Ah mate that’s a nice touch, wish I thought of that, I bet it sounds awesome with the current going through that wire, like a permanent 80’s guitar riff

Airing cupboards and lofts!? These are some of the worse places for kit like this.

Bedroom sounded sensible to me if the system is quiet.

Agreed, temperature, dust, moisture, I’ve never put an DVR NVR in a loft or airing cupboard,

Never had a problem bashing them in lofts and cupboards , so assume you walk away if they insist .....

Only issue I see with loft is as a house basher , the house Lasher's lash the stuff in and customer never goes up to see the mess

Yeah that’s right, a lot of lofts are a **** mess.

id be prepared to walk away, but depends on how bad the environment was, we note anything on our report job sheet that we have advised against and why

I will have to dig out the pictures from our house survey.

I thought the surveyor was taking the picture through several cobwebs in the loft. They turned out to be the wires... literally stretched between points the shortest distance.

Yeah it’s to keep the R1+R2 values down mate and promote “free air” for the cables, whenever I buy a 100M roll of twin and earth the first thing I do is stretch the cable to at least 120M to get my moneys worth.

  8. Arf is no longer with us :-(

he was a crazy bloke with a real passion for never ending debates.

but was a good guy, shame he’s gone, we all had some good laughs

Mr H or Data might be able to resurrect the “kitchen” thread lol

thats where I thought you where going,

however Jack can probably wire the kitchen with out burning down the house ?

Still a shame the old Giffer isn’t around to enlighten us all though.

i remember when you changed his description to something like 63 and stinks of wee, and he went ape ****, that was proper funny
