  1. The job we are doing in the morning is a prime example, customer saves a few quid and buys a CCTV kit from Costco. He fits is and then realises its cr@p. Tomorrow we are pulling it out and fitting replacement IP CCTV Buy cheap buy twice.
  2. £1000.00s In fact 10s of £1000.00s
  3. See them come and go round these parts every couple of years. One of the local nobs tried to take over one of ours. Grade. 3 dualcom, 2 visits with URN for intruder & pa much less than half of the market price. I worked out by the time he paid for the URN transfer it would have cost him £100.00 in year one just to win the work, now that's how to run a successful business.
  4. I can't remember last time we fitted an alarm on a domestic.
  5. Your going to have to chuck a massive amount Yale tat in to make any money. Just imagine how many times your going to have to go back while its in warranty to sort out this cheap tat.. From day one we have fitted Galaxy and good quality dual techs on every job, we get very few callouts.
  6. We only fit galaxy and the amount of calls I get after a mains fail of line fault is shocking, as said not the most user friendly but they have been rock solid for us.
  7. I am an SSAIB man in an estate car
  8. There must be something in the water down that way Chris Murphy.
  9. One of the worst job we have on our books was fitted from scratch by Pete's error of judgment.
  10. Haha I am just enjoying the moment as tomorrow morning it's back to the knob head customers who think fully comp cover means they don't get charged for deleting there own fob in error.
  11. Yes our turn over is great turning that into profit is the biggest task. And then of course paying the least amount of tax on it.
  12. Ok so weeks before I left a large national to start up I had the following in place, this was almost 10 years ago now. Car already signed up Loads of stock All of the tools, ladders etc A years wages saved up in the bank as a backup Loads of contacts potential customers I had met over the years Accountant in place Ltd company set up and ready to trade Docket books, invoice books etc printed and ready to use. I think it cost about £6k to put the above in place excluding the years wage I had saved up. Then a lot of very long hours to get things up off the ground and running and finally never give up just keep going and trying. And get approval ASAP. Would I do it again, NO WAY.
  13. At least you can't disable the anti mask on them
  14. Bluetac, well if it wasn't broken it will be now.
  15. Why not put the detector at celling level and feed the cable from upstairs. If you are doing it from the floor up it doesn't comply and it's just rough.
  16. My god, if any of our lads did this they would be in the office for a disciplinary
  17. Thaught about this, can you hire them?
  18. We need to put about 200m of FP 200 in a void under a corridor of a high school. It's a 1960s building and the corridors have voids beneath them for the services mostly pipes for the heating etc. The void is about 1m deep and 2m wide. I was going to P clip all the way but then thaught it would be a lot quicker to mount some small tray on the wall and steel tie to this as we will need to put another loop in at some point in the future. I know tray will cost more but should go in a lot quicker. Anyone got any better ideas?
  19. Normally means you have a short on a cable or at the detector unless you are using splitters.
  20. A speech dialer will work on any panel.
  21. I am sure dualcom offer a data only sim now.
