  1. Yea properly florist puts a business card into the flowers and etc and next time you need flowers you just give them a call.

Like I think they really make the money on the customers to upgrade to extra products and services for the Alarm and etc.

Upgrades maybe, the value is in the recurring revenue over 3-5 years.

  2. Ah so ADT are still up there usual tricks.

If you go on the website they quote £99 key holder response, but you must click or call to get a quote, that's when you get the small print. No tricks, it's just marketing.

  3. The approvals listed are wrong:-

EN50131-1 is a system standard, nothing to do with components.

EN50131-2-4 is for dualtechs, not PIR's, i don't see any dulatechs on your website.

No EN standard for the control equipment.

No mention of PD6662 the UK scheme for EN and BS standards.

To have any validity the certificate and testing must be carried out by a laboratory that complies with EN45011 and ISO67, this should appear on the certificate and the test reports.

The standards you listed before are all legal requirements to apply a CE mark, so these would be expected.(although not guaranteed.)

Not trying to slate your product, but the facts you have presented are incorrect, and potentially misleading.

Question:- do any of your products have removal from mounting tamper detection?

  4. But the vocals are for the customers benefit - and many seem to like it.

And, as it seems to be topical, surely Risco are allowed to upgrade firmware to resolve any glitches...or is that that just a privilige bestowed on Texe?

    :D

  5. Much better, I can hear you now :)

OOI what are you recording and mixing your stuff with?

Software is Reaper, hardware is a Line 6 POD XT Live, backing tracks from tinterweb. Reaper is very easy to use, i tried Cubase and Presonus, but Reaper beats them hands down IMHO.

  6. One 12 minute guitar solo later, and the show starts :)

    Only 12 minutes :(

    @ade

Sounds good, hope to here some of the other songs on the setlist too.

Listening to Livin' on a Player you don't quite cut through the mix, how about lighting them tubes up a bit more ;)

Yeah that one is proving a PITA, its mainly the effects i used to try and simulate the talkbox, i am having another bash at that and will remix it, the effects definitely had an impact.

  7. Ok so for anybody that has the slightest bit of interest here's a link to my Soundcloud, few tracks on there i have been gofing around with and a couple we intend to play as a band. Just started rehearsing with a couple of guys, we plan two months rehearsal of a 20 song set, got a singer lined up, then its off to the local pubs and clubs to show off our wares. Might be good might be bad, but we are at the moment having a great deal of fun and gelling quite nicely as a band.

Anyway have a listen, and all comments gratefully received, good or bad.

  8. Cannot disagree with anything said by CG, and part of the reason i fear it. When i was at Guardall and we had these discussions it was always with the intention of using two chips for the firmware update process, in case it crashed or could not be verified.

As for Routers, i have had two Linksys (Cisco) routers brick during and automatic firmware update, i now don't trust them, won't use them and stick to NetGear, i don't know if its better but it has not died yet during a firmware upgrade.

  9. Be interesting to see if the GPRS interferes with the Texe wireless though? I did bench trials with the iOn yonks back and it did NOT like the Webway being

in the same case.... (permanent Supervision fault)

The only reason GPRS will interfere with the radio is if you put the antenna lead for the GPRS right next to the antennas, it will be the same for all panels not just ours, the power output of the GPR, canm cause issues, Simply route the GPRS antenna cable on te opposite side of the box and problem solved.

  10. Moaning of your product?

I don't use texecom but as from previous threads it needs constant software updates that means a site visit? Is this true or not?

HKC had a problem that when udl the panel was not set overnight!

With your above comment I think texecom have a lot more software problems that require engineer visits to resolve them?

AP i am not going to get into a slanging match about this, we don't just issue software revisions to fix problems, some are to add features that people requuest, depending on the sites you have installed you may or may not have to flash the panel.

On the + side if we have a probelm at least we admit it, and try and fix it. If you have service agreements in place you wil be going to site anyway, so if the new firmware fixes an issue or adds a feature you want, then just flash the panel as part of the service. Takes minutes to do.

  11. I've never seen a rep from Risco, Scanny, Honeywell, Aritech on here. I know he's not been at it for long but nice to see Mr Castle here.

Agreed, manufacturers need to be involved, how the hell can they do their jobs if they don't talk to the people who use the kit?

  12. HKC had issues as per another thread when customer disarmed system it armed after udl.

So that means the system was disarmed overnight... Of a break in did occur what would happen?

Texecom will bring all their software flash blah blah!

Risco has had problems but for the wireless market they are up there with the best.

If the system is set up right then there should be 0% callbacks.

AP i am becoming bored of your constant moaning about our product, you don't even use it and you make it sound as if you have to flash the equipment every week. Fact is ALL manufacturers issue software which sometinemes has problems, depending on the site you may or may not have to flash upgrade the panel.

At least we fix problems and add features that engineers and users actually want. I will conceed to James on the remote flash for SPC and HKC, nice feature and we will have it.

So please stop treating us like the bad boy of the industry, at least i am heare playing the game, i don't see any Risco boys engaging in this forum
