Yeah I set them up the same (panel was for a company employee so the Udl part wasn't such a secret on this install) but I did wonder, as obviously don't want to give it the customer
what happens when the user wants to add the app to another device later down the line when we are not on site?
They will need the log In details?

Yes they wil however that is what the encrypted UDL is for you can give the encrypted number out without exposing your UDL passcode

I got as far as the port forwarding page on site I didn't get to read the rest, but you're right, Its answered my questions. Thanks
Excellent, glad to help
Yeah I tried both IP I have
It's not bigge as it was a test unit that's now fitted fine they just just the smart key app really so are happy with that. Next one I'll get when I have some time I'll look into it more.
One thing I'm not sure if was the Udl code, what's the score with regards to our Udl code and one for the apps it can't just use the one can it?
The UDL code in the app and the panel must match, otherwise no connection, you have the onion in the engineer app to encrypt the UDL code so it cannot be seen by the user

Right so the comwifi tells your servers every 15mins what the IP address is?
My (mis)understanding is you put the IP address and port in the app, and it connects to the router, router port is forward to comwifi then you have a connection.
If the router refreshes its IP address, the IP address in the app is wrong so it's not connecting to anywhere.
If I put a ddns address in the app it will always connect to the comwifi. Just like other remote CCTV apps.
Wouldn't mind having a better understanding of what your server is doing.
I'm assuming the client will want push notifications, are they handled by your server? If there's a ddns address will the notifications not work?
Also are the notifications instant, or checked every 15 mins?
Thanks
Best thing to do is read the manual that came with the comwifi and the app, all you need to know is there, we update the routers IP address in the app so it can always connect. Notifications are instant, push is handled by the server as are emails, no need to understand the ins and outs of how it is done, all you need to know is it works, we handle the IP updates and the notifications.
I do t want to sound patronising with the answer above, but everything is detailed in the manuals, follow them and it will work.

Did you try and register more than once? Did you use a valid email address? The process is automated, no human involvement so it should have worked, PM me the details you tried to register with will get it checked
-
I registered but never got a reply (was a Sunday mind)
Registered for what
-
can panel send emails ?
The app can be configured to send emails as well as notifications, all handled by our servers
-
Thanks for the quick replies, that's quite a clear answer
Will stop fannying around and replace the router then. Will put in a Netgear, we've got a batch of no-ip's so that'll work fine
Confused i am.
You don't need DNS, if using push notifications we track the IP address and update every time you connect, that's why the system is polled every 15Mins. I assume you are using this for the customer to have the APP. If not please explain some more.

I have split this thread as it is a slightly different topic even though related.Companies should not share engineer's codes with customers, for liability reasons as above. They can't guarantee that you aren't going to program things out, for example.I believed part of the standards state the customer should not be able to access the engineers menus. As for a "code reset" you are defeating the point of a reset if you bypass this.
Correct, the access levels dictate who has access to what and why, without these restrictions mayhem could ensue.

Yes put a working 2 way system in.
Cheeky i don't normally post in public but you have driven me too it.
That's the advice a few people have said, as in just stay away from the texecom wireless stuff, what would you recommend as a hybrid system, for all out wireless I've used Pyronix Enforcer panels and they've been pretty good with the exception of the key fobs being poop
PM me your number I will call you tomorrow. There is no issue with our systems and I can assure you they work.

True, but for us its a reflection on the market. We have very few locations that use DCM. Its old, its clunky and has some very suspect limitations. Such as an inability to signal alarms whilst a UDL session is in progress.
So we made a conscious decision to keep it off the board; its an expensive solution to manufacture as standard.
I've seen it working JW.
Ooops

2016 i reckon work will start, probably 2017 before its published.
-
As long as it gets through the vote and comment period this time still be next year before we see it, and then needs to go into PD6662 before we can use it in the UK.
-
This is second time round, we booted it first time as the beam interruption times at grade 2 and 3 were draconian to say the least, all the other requirements you would expect at grade 2 and 3 are included, the interruption times are now more sensible meaning that existing external product can be used interanally and still comply. You could that a shorter interruption time would be acceptable internally due to the reduced risk of false alarms from typical external factors. However it would have meant that no product would be available at the time of publication, the reality is also that as with all standards the requirements are the minimum and manufacturers who want an edge should and probably will try and exceed the requirements to give themselves a competitive sales argument.
All in all now I think it is a good standard from a product performance POV, however it still has some editorial issues that will need sorting.
-
There is currently no product standard for beams, so the only claim that can be made is against the -1 system standard or PD6662, any claim cannot be third party tested because there is no product standard.
The working group I am on in Europe have just published for comment a standard for beams, but only in the context of EN50131 so only for devices inside the supervised premises. The whole external thing is another ball game, standards are under way but we are years off having anything.
-
I'd go with you on that one goncall. But back to the external beam regs, If the roller shutter is not protruding onto a public highway (space etc.) and is on enclosed private land wouldn't it be better to 'catch' the intruder before he decides to demolish the roller shutter ? What are the regs on this ?
Simple, the detection must be inside the supervised premises as defined in the standards.

if level 1 users can do/see anything then its non compliant
You mean cannot do/see anything

Was in an industrial estate with no residential houses nearby. Was ringing very feint.
Fair enough
Yes the client pays but would you really want to mess around with all that on a Sunday when the snooker is on?
True, been a great tournament so far
-
Nothing a big hammer would not have sorted, why leave it ringing? Surely client pays?

At least they are nice and straight

Whats to cost after the first year?
No idea, i guess similar to what 8 is now, and i don't know that either.
I still on Vista will only upgrade to this because (here I go) hkc software won't work with Vista , does it work with 10?
Really? Vista is the biggest pile of dog poo to ever get loaded into a computer, i prefer XP to Vista, but 7 is worlds apart. I hope they have not screwed up 10, reports i have heard and read so far seem very positive.
-
And its gonna' be free for the first year for 7 & 8 Users http://www.itpro.co.uk/operating-systems/23119/windows-10-release-date-and-specs i hate 8 with a passion, both on laptop and desktop, definitely a tablet OS. 7 I love, it is everything Vista should have been. I might try it out on my home PC before the release.

So where do the previous company park their horses?
-
well at least you will be the first person in the world to ever get to speak to a call centre supervisor,i always thought they didnt exist
