December 9, 200520 yr comment_78093 Hey there all, Ive been asked to come and take a look at a friends alarm this weekend. They sent me pics in an email and its a british gas alarm (DSC i think.. is that right?) They have never used it since they moved in, but its all on and they have set off the alarm via a pa button by accident before so it sounds like it is in some sort of working order. What i wanted to know was how good are these panels? Are they simple to program or use? Ive told my friend that if its really old or for some reason not worth the hassle i would replace it with a spare galaxy 8 i have here, least that way i would be able to fully program it with programming i am familiar with and can trust. Regards, Ranger The above is my personal opinion and not that of my employer or anyone else. December 9, 200520 yr comment_78094 Good panels, easy to program if you do it all the time, very underated here. Have different defaults from Dsc and they are the same, its also posible to lock the code. Look out for wireless detectors on it though. December 9, 200520 yr comment_78097 My old boss had one when he moved into his new house. Pulled it out and put in new system. Tried to get the old one working on bench but not the easiest of panels (unless you work on them all the time I guess). December 9, 200520 yr comment_78102 Its a rebadged DSC, unless you have the correct BG engineering manual/codes you wont be able to do anything with it. Yes, should take about 5 minutes to fully program one... Only problem you will have, is BG have their own default eng code in the panel so unless you know what this is, the panel is no use to you.. There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.
