How do I wire two detectors into one zone?

Featured Replies

When wiring up a Texacom Veritas R8 can I wire a PIR and a door contact from the same room into the same zone? Does this have to be wired in paralell?

1.yes, but not advisable and not allowed by regulations for us pros.

2. no,series.

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

cheers. I have 3 pir's and 3 magnetic detectors, and 8 zones! Would it be simpler to connect 1 detector per zone, - is this advisable.

I am also unsure of which zone to programme the area near the keypad. The keypad is in the hallway with one PIR covering the area. All other doors/zones will be closed upon setting the alarm. The front door is a couple of metres from the keypad and has a magnetic contact fitted. After reading the instructions I am unsure of wether to program this zone to be entry/exit or inhibited entry.

Thank you.

3 pirs + 3 magnetic contacts = 6 Zones leaving you two spare.

Thats the proper way.

cheers, - anyone any info on which zone type to programme?

Thanks. Could you explain why so that I know!! There is a PIR in the hall and a magnetic contact on the front door (entrance from exterior to hall). What is the difference between inhibited and entry/exit program mode?

Entry will start the entry delay when the detector is triggered. Inhibited entry will allow you to violate the zone ONLY if the Entry delay has already started. So if someone comes in through the window (and does not start the entry delay by opening the front door), the inhibited entry zone becomes instant.

Just to add...

You will also need to set the PIR in the hall to entry/exit on a night (part set). This will start the entry delay when you come down stairs instead of triggering instantly.
