Daft question and I must be missing something here, but what difference does having an engineer manual make if:-

a: The default codes have been changed.

If the system is under contract then the end used will not be able to use the manual if the codes have been changed.

maunal tells you how to remove codes............. in some case engineres code can be defaulted without changing anything else, unlike pc, camera ect......... with have policys which require the alarm to be reset by an Engineer ACPO anyone.......

b: The end used can not understand them.

If a system is out of contract and the end user defaults the system, and then tries to reprogram it and fails, then surly it

Also consider that if Engineer manuals were freely available that any tom dick or harry with half a brain would have access to information on how to disable and default most alarms withing 30 seconds without any damage at all to the system.

Then tell that to all the other manufacturers.. This site did once have manuals available to all that asked, the Manufacturers stopped this hence the site "no manuals rule".

There seem to be two distinct arguements against supplying manuals in this thread.

One is saying that giving manuals to users will just let the user screw up the system and cause more hassle for Engineers.

The other is saying that any tom dick or harry with an engineers manual can disable most alarm systems within 30 seconds...

I will start another topic in CCTV tomorrow to discuss "watermarking"

After I ask our tech guys how it works as to be totally honest I am not sure :hmm:
