Went back on 4mb yesterday afternoon. Was having problems with connection speed - it seems back to full steam ahead now though.

Oh, and a piss poor 469 Kbps (58.6 KB/sec) 'cos we've got a network constructed using wet string round here. I can't get 1Mbit which is annoying as it was offered as a free upgrade.

BT, you big you know what!

Well, I take it back, (mostly)!

Got an email today from Pipex saying BT got it wrong (shocker!) and I now have a 968Kbps connection.

Don't think I'll be getting 4Mb for a while though.

Ntl

Downstream 1422 Kbps (177.8 KB/sec) 1535 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Upstream 236 Kbps (29.5 KB/sec) 254 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Its about to be boosted to 3mbit, but it will be hardware capped i believe

Upstream 95 Kbps (11.9 KB/sec) 102 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Its the upstream that makes me weep...

Looks like NTL havent upgraded me yet...

Upload speeds are a disgrace, you can pay a small fortune for a business ADSL but its the only way to get bigger pipes.

You think business ADSL is a fortune ??!!?? Try SDSL.

My results BTW:

Downstream 1777 Kbps (222.1 KB/sec) 1919 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Upstream 242 Kbps (30.3 KB/sec) 261 Kbps (inc. overheads

BT have actually got quite close to what they sold me and that is wirelessly routed (not that it should make a difference, but it does)

The delights of Be ADSL2+

Note for CCTV people - a friend of mine uses Be with the "upload Plus" option and gets over 2500kbps upstream.

In his case that's for videoconferencing.
