Featured Replies

Hi I was installing an rapier 6000 to my alarm I decided to test it and noticed that it did not sound when I powered down the panel or disconnected the sounder the engineer link was still connected but I was wondering is this bell  sab or scb and is there a way to select which.

thanks for any help

Remove the eng link it's a Sab

Few old bells are scb most need power from the panel to be full volume. Some say they can be scb but as they use onboard power operate at reduced output

Looking at the technical manual, as James says you should remove the link. Also it shows a white wire link above the terminal block, when this is connected the sounder will run for 5 seconds. To get the correct 15 minutes, the wire should be cut. If the sounder still won't activate check the R- terminal, this should be taken negative in alarm.

Hi thanks for the replies firstly much appreciated.

also I was only aware of the wire loop that controlled the timer that’s what I Meant when I said engineers link.

is there another link I noticed a wire right next to the terminal block does that have any purpose.

also what are opinions on the rapier is it considered a good sounder

thanks

Only fitted one a good while ago, Had to fit stainless bell to suit the job. I believe they are pretty decent.

I can only imagine the other wire would be a battery link (maybe answers your OP, why you have no hold off triggering) but maybe someone that has fitted one more recently can help.

The wire (usually black) at the end of the connector block is from the onboard battery as SWB says.

The wire goes to the terminal marked Batt LK, at the right hand end of the block.
