Honeywell Reson8 8EP420 with Yale HSA alarm

Featured Replies

Good afternoon.

My trusty Yale HSA2500 alarm failed this week, or at least the bell box did.  I have purchased a replacement Honeywell Reson8 (8EP420) bell box, which says it "can be connected to any intruder control panel".  I’m sure it can, but the connector designations are different and I don’t want to short anything. so may I intrude on your good selves to assist me with the connections?

I thought it would be really easy.  Come on, just five wires, what could be difficult about that.  PLEASE could you assist me?

The connections on the Yale control panel connect to the Yale Bell box thus:

Yale Control panel.  Yale Bell box

SRN -              to       BELL TRIG
STB-                to      STB TRIG

SUPPLY+        to     +12v AUX

SUPPLY- (1)    to     - 12v AUX

RTN-                to      BELL TAMP L

The connections recommended for the Reson8 are here:

Control panel                Reson8

-STROBE or ST-       to     STB-

BELL-                       to     TRIG-

TAMPER SUPPLY  to     HOLD OFF-

BELL+                      to     HOLD OFF +

TAMPER RETURN to      RTN-

I’m assuming that I connect like this:

Yale                                Reson8

SRN-  will connect to TRIG-

STB-  will connect to  STB- (that one makes sense)

But I am really worried about connecting them and the other three.  Please could I seek your assistance?

I have attached a copy of the relevant page of the Yale manual, and here is a link to the Reson8 user manual.

May I thank you in anticipation, and express my gratitude in advance?.

Many thanks.

Gentlemen all, thank you so much.  Too late to test at this time tonight, I’ll wait until the morning to try.

Very much appreciated.

MrHappy, you are spot on with the fact that these devices are very low tech, but that usually lasts the longest.  New tech is fantastic - when it works!

:-)
