Most resi burglars don't give a hoot about comms etc. imo, in fact I doubt they would know what you were on about. They are in and out merchants and know in the main the police will be a no show in any case so their biggest fear is confrontation, but most have a screwdriver or similar so are not too bothered about that tbf.

Just imo

No, I know they don't care about comms, but the point stands they have no idea with yale if it was installed last decade or last week, they date very well. The one good thing about them is the consistency of the branding I'd say.

So, I've decided to take my work back underground.... to stop it falling into the wrong hands

Same with all the major brands tbf, but only geeks like us notice the version of sounder.

Im not sure there are any others these days!

Chubb & (mainly) ADT have it nailed imo, but JP will always recognise a Yale box.

Thanks for this really interesting thread, re Yale.

I suppose the reason that I painted the siren box black was due to the relative cheapness of the system.

I don't expect a cheap system, home installed, to match those put in by industry specialists.

I did look about, and got some quotes for a replacement, but they seemed soo expensive to buy.

I was offered 'savings' greater than the cost of the Yale, and then I was asked to pay quite a high maintenance charge to boot.

My Defender cost me enough over the years, and I wasn't in the ball park for that sort of upfront, and continuing cost for my replacement.

I suppose it is like everything else, you get what you pay for.

a bag of plaster is £7, imagine my surprise that a plasterer wants so much more £ to apply it to a ceiling.... is almost like I'm paying towards his wages & van ect...

TBF that looks like regular social housing plastering.
