Thanks Sixwheeledbeast. I appreciate your help and I've read the article but it's beyond my level of technical ability  I'm afraid. I'm taking from this that no CCTV system is totally secure and P2P, even though I have a new password everywhere possible, that is even more vulnerable than DNS and port forwarding. If you were to choose either one, which would you choose ? Or none? Does anyone know any experts who can help me secure my CCTV system in the Glos area, or is a secure CCTV system (even if built in the UK) an oxymoron?

 

I would use Client-Server distribution and secure the system using higher end equipment (DVR Router Firewall etc) with these I could utilise VPN's and VLAN's.

If it was not a requirement for remote connectivity I would disable it.

as 6wb get a router that supports secure vlan and keep it up to date
