Diy Fix-Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Our local cricket club cctv system has packed in and the installer is not available to repair so we've decided to try fix it ourselves. I ordered an h view dvr box from ebay

[Edit - no links please, generic bargain bucket 16 way analogue dvr]

The new box done the trick and works with the old cameras and we now want to add a few more. The problem is they will need 100m cables from the box to the camera. They come supplied with 20m cables so I've been doing some reading and read the best option is cat5 cable with baluns. Going to give it a go but I'm just wondering is there anything I need to be aware of?

700 tvl is not 720p but thats a different subject.

Voltage drop is a concern at the distances your talking about so id just use additional psu's local to the cams. Then you wont overload the existing (due to demand not cable length) nor have a volt drop issue
