I bought the R8 eventually. It was relatively easy to put in and replace the C&K 700L panel and keypad. Thanks for confirming the wire mapping for me. The only snag I hit was the R8 box was slightly too wide to fit in the original 700L panel, so I had to install the box on the side. Which means the battery is now in a standing up position. I guess that would be ok for a sealed lead acid battery?

Hope the engineer has steel toe capped boots on for when the battery falls

What's the difference between Veritas 8 and Veritas R8, other than a keypad fitted on the 8?

Nothing really. Onboard keypad or remote keypad that's it.

That 'engineer' will probably be me - and most certainly when the time comes, I would have forgotten the battery is out there ready to cause an injury. I better put a warning label on the front cover - but then again that could be warning to a potential intruder as well for whom sore toes are well deserved.
