Dvr With Set Input

Featured Replies

This works, I have done it a fair few times on our systems

Program the DVR to trigger an output upon motion detection,
Use that output to trigger the alarm input, The alarm input can be configured to set to send an email

Connect a relay up to the alarm system, Use the relay when Set/Unset to prevent the above alarm trigger firing the alarm input on the DVR

Job done, No need for expensive DVR

In other words the alarm when unset is shunting the output that triggers the input. Not all DVRs would be able to do this as the inputs and outputs are not that flexible.

This is what I do with most of Dahua / Adata dvr's

It's possible with their lower end £150 and upwards models

As long as your using the external inputs to fire the email and not the built in activity detection then you can shunt any input through the intruder alarm.

Ie the SW units can trigger the relay on motion and then that can be wired into an input and that set to send the email.
