Reson8 Bells Used Temporarily With No Alarm Panel

Featured Replies

So I'm planning on doing a proper alarm install shortly, but as a first step want to get two bell boxes up at the front and rear of the house.

Since the Reson8 uses an active low (0v) signal for bell and strobe triggers, am I right in thinking that it has on-board pull-ups that mean I can have the bell powered via its + and - hold off supply, but with nothing connected to the bell and strobe triggers?

I've tested this on the workbench and it appears to give me a fully functioning bell box with tamper protection and the bell triggered from its NiCad if the power's removed.  But I don't want to suffer from any spontaneous triggering once they're up on the wall, just because I left the trigger inputs un-connected!

In fact, when I do fit the control panel, I only want the bell to trigger at the front of the house so would plan to leave the trigger input on the rear bell permanently disconnected (I appreciate that it would ring its bell in the event of power loss or tamper, though).

Since this is my first venture into alarm territory, it would be good to know I'm not planning anything stupid!

When you come to install your alarm system this may not be able to support two external sounders.

I don't know the bell so I cant say if they support linking tampers together or SCB mode.

Not sure what you are trying to achieve here, but so long as you have permanent power to the hold offs you will be fine. Thats all that an alarm panel would do
