Access Control Help?!

Featured Replies

Hi All

Ive purchased a paxton compact access control unit for a little project, very simple to setup with the mag locks.

However, there will also be a seperate door phone which needs to operate the same lock -

Ive been told i need a relay (and have one - a videx n506?) however im not sure i do?
Can i just connect the output of the doorphone to the exit switch input in series with the exit switch?

If not, can anyone advise how i need to wire in the relay ? Confusing the hell out of me!
Thanks all!

Sorry i dont understand?
On my relay i have:

1 24v input

2 12v input

3 relay ground

4 relay positive input command

5 ground

C01

NC1

NO1

C02

NC2

NO2

So what goes where?
Obviously going into it there will be

2 wires from access control unit

2 wires from door phone

2 wires to maglocks

Where do they all go?

cheers mate

Surely if you are buying kit such as Paxton the above should make sense to you? It's self explanatory. If not, why don't you call an engineer who knows what he is doing to install it?

Hmm. Diyer playing with pro kit

If want to some water in my windscreen wipers I do it. If I want the engine changing I get a mechanic to do it.

Thanks for your help matt.  O_O

Its a paxton compact, i can easily connect that to the mag strips and get that working thats not a problem.

Its the addition of the relay thats confusing me, once i get my head round it, with some help, ill be ok.

@jameswilson

On the audio unit i have 3 outputs, nc, no and com.

I was questioning weather i need the relay at all, would just connecting both nc outputs on the paxton and the audio unit directly to the mag strips not work?

Thanks for your help

Good luck putting water in your wipers ;)

You don't need the relay, just connect the com to 0v and N/O to the rte input on the Paxton.

Thanks,

I can do that with the phone and the paxton?

and just for clarification is it not the NC i need rather than the NO?

Its magnetic locks which are always powered until the paxton says so?

Normally open, it is a request to exit input.
