May 28, 201213 yr comment_284653 Hi, I have a Veritas r8 alarm fitted with no issues until yesterday. The alarm went off when set with no zones showing at fault. Looking around the alarm i found that one of the keypads is not working correctly. Every time i press a button it thinks that i have pressed omit button. My question is:- does this mean the keypad needs replacing or re-programing? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/33002-veritas-r8-keypad-issue/ Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 May 29, 201213 yr comment_284657 Just a thought, how old is your battery? Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care. May 29, 201213 yr Author comment_284670 I have pressed every button on the second keypad and the only buttons that work are Full, Part. Most of the other buttons are making the chime as if i pressed the Chime button... It has also made the chimes on its own when no one is around to press. The First keypad is working fine. May 29, 201213 yr Author comment_284672 Update. In the mean time i thought i'd take the keypad panel off and clean. I remove the keypad buttons and also remove from connector at side. I blew it and then put it back together.. All working fine for now. May 29, 201213 yr comment_284679 Hi I have not re-programed as i do not know how to do. Was going to look into it. Battery is about 6 years old. Change it, should have been done before now. Taking the voltage reading from the battery & getting say, 12.8v is NOT a propper check of the battery condition, be on the safe side and for the cost of the battery a lot of agravation could be stopped. They may be rechareable but they don't go on for ever. ps It could even be on the way out and is causing your problem. June 22, 201213 yr comment_285224 Yeah, replace batt every 3to 4 years, also reboot the panel, the transformers in those don't like any power issues. Check for enduced v, get an eng in if you can Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/33002-veritas-r8-keypad-issue/#findComment-285224 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 June 22, 201213 yr comment_285228 Agreed, it was more than likely the fact that you disconnected and then reconnected the keypad that sorted the problem. Graham is right, veritas panels do not like power issues. If you had have disconnected mains and battery at the end station and then reconnected it would have had the same effect. Get your battery changed.
