April 21, 201115 yr comment_272806 I have a Scantronic 9449 hardwired system using EE plus 5 pir controlled zones. After many years I changed the battery (a power cut confirmed that the battery was useless) but since then I have been unable to set the alarm. Nothing shows on the panel except the power light but when I set the alarm I get flashing zones 6 and 7 (which are unused) and instead of setting the alarm then sounds and has to be cancelled. Any suggestions as to how I could fix this gratefully received! April 21, 201115 yr comment_272807 Sounds to me as though the system needs a complete reprogramming through Engineer mode. It's defaulted itself to factory setting...IMHO Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/31539-scantronic-9449-odd-behaviour/#findComment-272807 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 April 21, 201115 yr comment_272808 It's defaulted itself to factory setting...IMHO This is my first guess also. You can link out the spare unused zones in the panel with alarm wire, this will get the alarm working for full set. Thanks for the advice. I'd be grateful for a pointer to engineer control commands specifically around defining unused zones. April 22, 201115 yr comment_272814 As in my previous post I'd be grateful for some advice about how I can reprogramme the system. I don't have the skills to be able to link out unused zones with alarm wire so programming out the zones is prefferable if this can be done. Thanks. April 23, 201115 yr comment_272815 the wire solution is far easier, just take a short piece of alarm wire and screw it into the terminals that correspond with the offending zone. Unless you already have an engineering manual as these are only available from this site to members who prove to be in the trade. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
