james.wilson
lol In all seriousness this ype of kit is above what i would normally use. Normally (and currently on this site) there are unmanaged megabit switches sgemented into seperate networks. But now the client wants this realtime view accross over 60 cams, The current way wont scale that way, id need lots of swicted and about 10 nic's per dvr. I have another one to do before thee nd of the year with 150 cams, so i need to bottom the theory out. As we dont use off the shelf stuff for this I have no-one to ask. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. MrHappy
so the easy route is adding 4 way pci ethernet cards to the max of your bus speed / divided your server(s) up ? Mr Veritas God

james.wilson
remote sites are easier as the bandwidth limit is usually the link not the local lan. Im in a strange position where i know im running out of bandwidth and i want to future proof it as much as possible. One way would be to use a lower bandwidth codec, ie h264 but this has other issues so id rather say with jpeg. I think im going to use layer 3 switches and limit each box to 30 cameras. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount.
