Gardtec 800 Without Contract?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have recently moved into a 4 year old house which has a gardtec 800 security system. I have contacted the intallers of the alarm system who have told me that there is a monthly fee for both a monitored and unmonitered contract.

I find this a bit confusing as I don't really know why I would pay a monthly fee for an unmonitored system. I don't mind paying a one off fee for initialization of the alarm.

Does anyone know if I can run this system without a contract (monthly fee)?

Kind regards

ooky

a lot of installers will only attend to systems taht are serviced. (i agree with this)

Your montly fee will be reduced but its easier and more modern for charges to be collected this way.

Also yes you can run it without a service, just like you can run a car without servicing it etc.... but it will fail at some point.

Granted your alarm doesnt have moving parts but it does need servinceing and parts replacing at set intervals.

But your talking about applicances ie that are a box and can be returned in the event of a failure. Your alarm is part of your house.

Im not going into the reasons behind servicing as this is already covered in many places on the site, im not saying that it has to be by a professional company, people do service these things themselves... but servicing they need. Or you will end up with an unreliable system that might work when its needed, that false alarms at 2am, and gives you false belief its protecting say

Yes I see your point, and you are right about the fruit, do you work for them?

I know its not a huge ammount of money, but I think its a bit of a rip off when I could buy a whole new alarm for about

using cars again, the cheap cars tend to have more features than the good ones too.

Use the same logic in slecting any equipment as you do a car. I find it works well and is easy to understand then. DOnt go for the dearest, or the cheapest. Also when picking a car its not purly about the feature list is it?
