C&k 700l

Featured Replies

Hi there

Have just moved into a house and am having problems with the C&K 700l

The entire house is only wired to one fuse. Given we need to redecorate, we need to turn all of the power off in the flat using this one fuse

Which, of course, sets off the 700l. Is their any way of setting up the 700l so that the tamper alarm doesn't go off when the mains power is cut, or should it even be doing this in the firts place?

Any help grately appreciated - have a long list of DIY tasks that are not going to be done until I can turn the power off in the flat!

Thanks

Mark

Hi ,

It requires a battery. Old one out , new one in , careful around mains etc.

Your alarm should not activate during a power failure, well at least not until the power has been off for a minimum of 8 hours.

The alarm is activating because the battery isn't doing it's job.

Inside the main panel there will/should be a battery, this probably needs replacing.

It is relatively easy to do but there are dangerous voltages present so isolate the mains before attempting it yourself.

Thanks!

Is changing the battery as straight forward an operation as turning off the mains and popping in a new battery?

Thanks!

Yes pretty much on a 700l.

Make sure you get the connections the right way around, obvious I know but you would be surprised.........

Assuming that everyting works ok the alram will activate when you power it back up so replace the control panel cover then enter your user code followed by either the asterix or the hash symbol. (i can never remember which).

The 700l is a simple yet pretty solid panel in my experince so you should have no problems but if in doubt call a pro.

It would be advisable to get your system serviced as this will prolong the life of the panel and system so in the long haul would cost you less.

Hi - I've replaced the battery with a new one (the old one was definately flat)

However, when i cut off the power to the flat the external alarm still goes off (alarm bell on the outside of the house, but not the internal one)

Any ideas what is going wrong here?

Id have a look at the battery fuse, but its also possible that the charger circuit has failed.

If it has the easist thing to do is replace the panel

How long was the new battery in place before you turned off the power?

Some new batteries are not fully charged and will need to be 'on charge' in the panel for a day or so before they are able to power the system fully.
