Optima Plus

Featured Replies

Hello

I have just joined. I moved into this house in Guildford over a year ago. There is an Optima plus installed which the owners said wasn't working. I intended to have it fixed at some point.

However, today it started bleeping (not the actual burglar alarm, just a bleep). As if the battery is low, like on a smoke detecter. Trouble is, I can't work out how to remove the panel to change the battery, if that is the problem. And I don't know where in the house the alarm is powered from. The owners have not left manual or code.

The bleeping is driving me mad - can anyone help??

Many thanks.

Hello

Before you get any mixed or confusing advice/replies can I just clarify if you

want someone local to give you a cost to come round and service the system and fit a new battery?

or

want a detailed explaination of how to change the battery yourself?

Hi

thanks for your reply. I would l like someone local to come round at some point, yes. However, I won't be able to sleep tonight with the bleeping so would love to have a detailed explanation to change the battery myself. Many thanks

This may sound stupid as you said yourself it sounds like a smoke detector battery getting low....................but, are you 100% sure it isn't a smoke detector??

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

Hi

Doesn't sound stupid. But yes the sound is coming from the Optima Plus device in the hallway, not the smoke alarm in the kitchen.

It will almost certainly be impossible for you to do that, so best not to try.

If you attempt to open the case it will trigger the alarm, and you don't have the code to silence it. :(

But do make absolutely sure it's not something else - those beeps can be INCREDIBLY difficult to locate.

you sure you`ve not turned CHIME on by mistake - few (if any) alarms bleep to indicate things

I haven't ever touched the unit. I have pressed chime to see what happens, but nothing. It bleeps about every five seconds and at the same time the red power light flashes and a number 1 appears in the ZONE box.

Hi ,

The 2 plus can be set-up to indicate mains fail ( beep every 5 secs ) , also reset required ( beep every 3 secs ).

Any other beeps are as said , either smokes or a flat phone battery.
