Get onto BFPSA - they do all the design courses that you need.

As far as recognised design engineers versus recognised course - most good design guys have worked as engineers first and can there fore see the most effecient solution to the objective (I done the an house 5839:Pt 1 (2002) design course which helped to back up my understandings of the standard that I have to be able to apply every day).

and after the course coupled with a bit of experience, would you expect to get a job designing systems?

i ask this because every vacancy i have seen for designers has been over 30 grand.

you need to ask yourself what is most important in life the money or doing the job you actually like doing?

working in Fords fitting rocker covers to new engines might realise the same rewards but would you mind heart and soul be in it?

you will starting back at the bottom so 30k is some way off, having built up a good respect level in your current field, it could be veru hard to take just being the tea (Ovaltine?) boy all over again
