Come on guys, give a guy a break! :(

This is my first post on here and I appreciate most of you are installers but I hoped you would be able to advise on budget kit. I have to make the best of the money I can afford.

As I have already mentioned, I am expecting to install the kit myself. I am no expecting a 'Professional' solution but surely something half decent is better than nothing at all? I have decided not to go wireless and will invest the time running the required cables.

There seems to be loads of alarm starter kits for <

Many PRO companies install the Veritas Excel, along with the other Texecom equipment shown in that kit. The kit is reasonably priced and VFM. So long as the kit is installed correctly then it'll do what you need and run trouble free.

The DVR Card seems ok for the price, but im a little suspicious of the full spec's not being given.? And there's little mention of what software is provided.

Those cameras aren't too bad for the price, but are only 380TVL so will not be capable of grabing too much detail. A higher resolution camera would be preffered.

Thanks for your help. What other spec's should I be looking at for the card?

I've just come accross this site for cameras as well http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/cam-bullet-bw.htm. These have a higher TVL resolution. What minimum resolution whould I be looking at to get 'reasonable' quality?

I would rather get a good quality B&W camera than a poorer quality colour one.

I presume I need to match the capture card with the same resolution?
