November 24, 200619 yr comment_133763 I can only go on my experience with the battery powered detectors like I have now, the one in the hall goes off if we have burnt toast or the grill is smoking. which is one of the reason that legislation forbids the use of them in any new-builds. It is against regulations to have detectors which cause unwanted activations, either by the use of inappropriate devices or wrongly siting them.
