  1. an led will use a load of battery in the scheme of low power the less time its on the better for life imo
  2. I dont know the panel, but you need to remove the engineer reset or remote reset attribute. However i would say its very good of any company to visit you for free to do this for you.

Was used to slim down the size of a members sig image. It was too large so i put a smaller one here and edited the sig.
  4. I havnt tested one yet and id like it if someone else did yes. Be good to see the comparison on the different grades mate. Let us know how you get on.
  5. Update on this. As breff stated due to its age this unit as tested is a G3 unit not a G3s unit. The G3s unit was launched in late 09 and this dualcom was installed in early 09. I have attached the old and new pdf's that show the original grade 3 unit reports dual path failure in 5 hours. The G3s states that it reports this within 1 hour. I have not tested this yet. As a note the grade 3 requirements are that a single path failure is reported within 5 hours and that both paths have failed within 25 hours. Obviously reporting a dualpath failure at 5 hours exceeds this. This unit reported that both paths had failed at 5 hours. Id assume that a G3s unit will report this at 1 hour. My own thoughts are that even 1 hour is too slow. I will update in other posts the same tests on redcare secure 3, webway grade 3 and 4 and I plan to do a grade 4 dualcom. 7. Ok i see what you mean now. But i dont agree its the reg writers. I think its a belief that all dual path systems at any grade are similar. Some have always known that. Some have just thought that g2 is cheaper and still dual path so that will do. re the polling issue etc. It can be done but the lower grades allow longer times before detection. IF you think back to pre en this wasnt regulated but there was only really redcare then which turned out to be a grade 4 signalling system. But redcare gsm is a lot more per year to run than say a G2 dualcom/redcare secure. BBut its the grade that is key here. ie we cant compare a G3 dualcom to a G4 redcare GSM. The redcare unit will obviously perform better but it also costs more. Horses for courses etc. I must admit mate i wasnt fully aware either. I knew i wouldnt get a confirmed line fail in any useful time on anything less than a Grade 4 system. But i did expect to get a single path failure within minutes. What is key to this test for me is how a G4 dualcom performs and how a G3 redcare secure performs in this type of attack.
  8. Never done it but i recall it being a jpeg on the sd card. Probably has to be a certain name of file
  9. i miss your point Adi. I think some installers re aware but most IMO are not.
  10. It meets EN though for grade 3, but 5 hours for any signal at all is pretty useless.
  11. It seems to meet grade 3 and we must note this is a grade 3 unit. So its meeting the reg, but not the supplied by the manufacturer documentation. Im assuming the redcare secure 3 will be the same on this attack type. Id still be interested on anyone with a G4 unit verifying the 3 minute stat. Ill update you all on the secure and ww1 tests
  12. Just had a call from the ARC Just been passed a Dual Path Failure from this. Just over 5 hours. So the document that talks about priority polling is not 100%. I thought id get a single path failure quicker than this.
  13. maybe but how many will i have and if it isnt polling doesnt it report such. Also i thought they set them to auto logon to the polling server as it was a problem that people didnt. How do you know if it is or isnt polling? I would prefer if someone else can test one of theirs to see if i have the only unit that doesnt work (well it isnt the unit as that is dead) Ill need to test the red secures as i wonder if that is the same.
  14. I checked that, it isnt on log only Plus im checking the log, so if it was on log only it would still be there. Had a recent issue with 3 of our old plus units going into 72 hour polling failure. was told by csl to go to site and restart the units. No help. Turned out to be a fault at dualcoms end. Currently in a state of high confidence in these....
  15. I need to test another, but fortunatly i only have a handful of the non paknet based dualcoms. I would prefer to test a grade 4 one, but im fairly sure we dont have one. We used red gsm when G4 was needed. I'm quite suprised to be fair over 4 hours now and not even a single path fail has been reported. Where is that document that says 3 mins lol Ill do a redcare Secure 3 and a webway next week.
  16. Following on again from the LPS 1277 topic and after the dual path fail test on a redcare GSM this afternoon I did exactly the same on a Grade 3 Dualcom GPRS. Powered down at 15:20 9/3/12 as shown in this video. Last signal currently shown is the tamper from when i put the galaxy into engineers to open the panel. ie no GPRS fail or PSTN single path failures. Much less a confirmed comm fail (ie both paths down). System not put on test (as it wouldnt be in the wild if it was attacked. Exactly the same procedure as the redcare test. Unit is still powered down, im hoping that something will show up at some point....... Last Checked at ARC @ 19:12 9/3/12
  17. anti Nowt no anti mask is about risk on the site. Most people do G2 afaik so to generalise that its weak imo goes against most opinion. I personally would go for contact and trap protection on the view. There is an en guideline that dictates this but its optional so far
  18. if the shutter is that big then yes 2 contacts either in the same confirm group or in series is a good idea but not a requirement. Also if the door is dodge id also spec an active beam. agree with the trap protection of an overlooking dt
  19. Had another request for LPS 1277 signalling today from the insurer rather than the broker. Anyone else seeing this yet?
  20. http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/files/file/250-optima-xm-manual/ pretty much the same. If i recall the XL only gave a backit keypad
  21. agreed staples used correctly are fine imo
