  1. And camera alert devices are illegal in the land of the frogs. So, cameras ain't to slow people down but to empty their wallets.

Do they not also Issue on the spot fines.  Like you must pay the fine there on then or we will charge you more.

Plus they have that whole crazy rule about High-viz jackets and everything.

  2. They probably have a deal with the florist so it costs them next to nothing to do it

Yea properly florist puts a business card into the flowers and etc and next time you need flowers you just give them a call.

Like I think they really make the money on the customers to upgrade to extra products and services for the Alarm and etc.

  3. 14 years ago I worked out it cost me £32.50 per hr per engineer, I reckon its a fair bit more now, I couldn't afford to send one anywhere for free if I was only charging £7.50 per month for the system in the first place

I know there a option to pay Extra to get a Same Day Engineer which is like £80 if your at fault.   But generally they booking customer appointment a couple days ahead anyway so the computers plan our route well.

  4. *Subject to terms and conditions

    lol

I love the TV adverts which have LOADS of small writing at the bottom of them.   Like 'Actual Size is 1:500000000 of size'

You mean like a bunch of flowers?

Thats just a service related thing,  I do think its nice but at same time cheesy.

  5. Its quite simple really £7.50 devaluations the industry, one breakdown under warranty and your running at a loss in the first year, two breakdowns out of warranty and you may as well be paying the customer to have your system. Anyone that understands business understands that profit has to be made just to stay a float

Very good point,  Like I think they do the maths at looking at how often they breakdown which were at fault.    I did once go to a house which customer tried say 'It just stopped working'  'yes, it would if you cut the cable!'

  6. Got a link to more information on this £7.50 alarm? not having all the info doesn't allow for an informed opinion.

I try find a link but I just wanted to find out roughly why they seem to be so much of a £7.50 alarm is a bad thing.   As the Alarm like £120 but I think most customers go for upgrades and etc.

  7. You do know the £99 is just the install, right?

I got Leaflet from ADT saying £99 Alarm fitted from ADT.

That would infer that they would fit alarm for £99.  *Cough SCAM*

Again I just wanted find out why they seems to so much a bad thing about £7.50 a month alarm.   As the alarm is very basic and comes with like 1 PIR and 1 door contact.

  8. Can I ask you guys.

Why do you insist on taking the mick out of the £7.50 a month alarm.

    Whats actully wrong with it?

A*T do a £99 alarm which if you spread it over 16months its like £6.19 a month?    Which basically all they are doing is a finance offer with the customer to spread the cost.

They do Finance Offers with a lot customers as you may know that a £300+ alarm can be expensive but spreading that over 12/14/16/24 months can then seem more flexible and might mean you actully secure your property.

  9. You can indeed obtain an std code for anywhere you like. Most VoIP providers offer it.

As for BT/openreach. They are a world player in the telecoms industry, a presence in many areas, but this shows how the pro independence lot like to pick and choose.

If you want out, fine. But most down here, I would hazard a guess, would say out is out. You want out, then bye bye, no clutching at hand outs from Westminster.

Just remember, Alec Salmond is not your friend.

They have always said that if we get independence it will not be a overnight thing as there loads things which need set up and sorted.   They said it would be a 10 year plan before everything is independent.

i do wonder what our shipping companies will do. we send quite a bit north of the border

thats my view. ill pay more to move the subs. Then we can use our end for navy work.

I sure most them view it as normal as we got Amazon up here and quite a few E-Commerance companies up here including a Sh*t huge Tesco Distribution Centre which covers like from Manchester to Highlands and Islands.

Well the did admit that they have nowhere to put the Navy Subs down south as they don't have any free docks.

  10. Plus my best tip is like everyone said is GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING + Your price is what you can live on.   No Point working when you can't even feed yourself or pay mortgage.   I know a sparky who charges a high Daily rate but he always busy and always got new vans and etc but he wants to charge higher so he can live a higher life.   If that make sense.

  11. i thought it was illegal to use local numbers in an area yiu dont have an office? ie sip etc

    i suppose it will

I don't think it is,   As I seen Big Companies using Local Number in marketing stuff.

A*T does it on their Door to Door Leaflets saying your Local Branch is 01XXX and it really goes to there National Call Centre.

i thought it was illegal to use local numbers in an area yiu dont have an office? ie sip etc

    i suppose it will

They were saying Scotland would keep BT & Openreach due to its investment they said.

  12. Sure and we use national rate because. Wed-Thurs im in Lanark, Dunfermline, Dundee and Kilmarnock. Do they all want local numbers? Were not a local company with adds in the local yell. our customers aren't complaining but Europe appears to be sticking their nose into representing the ignorance of the national blue chips.

I cant say ive ever been asked the question. Do you think the likes of NHS or the county fire brigade might be put off ringing me? obviously not but I take your point that a potential customer looking for a cheap alarm browsing the local paper would have a preference to ring a local STD than one of those strange 0844. Cant say I will miss that call.

No, Not what I was trying say.

Like for example if you claimed your office was in Glasgow, I would expect a 0141 number and which you can get a geo number and be anywhere in the world now a days.

Our company has 03, 0800, Landline numbers but I would not say were a 'Cheap Alarm' company,  But we just want provide a good service which if your giving a good service then your customers are happy.

Have you never tried using a Local Rate Number and see if you notice any difference?

  13. Divide that figure by the 10,000 amount of time, administration, phone bills, maintenance, service, vehicles, fuel, insurance, and all or any other items I missed.. After that then you will see a figure on the calculator.... A negative one

Yea but if you think about all the extra work we get like Locksmiths, Key Cutting, CCTV install, Alarm & Fire Install and Maintenance, Emergency Property Boarding (They metal sheets gets put on empty or evicted properties + all the SIA stuff they do.   Soon the £7.50 alarm is really just a small thing.

  14. there is a big difference here. Your both referring to sales type businesses. We are an ex directory non listed, non advertising company, sure we have a web page but that's basically a brochure because were expected to have one. We make no effort to push our sales and we focus on the customers we want, generally were specified as a solution provider, we don't have sales people and were too busy as it is. Not pretending there are wheels within trying to change this strategy. We are focused on customer service but won't put up with whiners, they have to go. We don't want calls OOH for any amount of cash and therefore the premium rate OOH gets rid of the drek. Now if you don't think this is the type of service you expect from a leading alarm company you have a choice FCk Off and phone Billy's alarms.

However if i was paying you money I expect to be paying least a local rate number for any service.
