I registered for a free one to see how it performed. failed at the first hurdle really. do you not host your own James rather than using other people's services?

in the past when I've had to use DDNS services they are provided by DVR/NVR manufacturer. Ones I've used in the past are Samsung and Hik. they've always worked perfectly and to this day they are still connected. I assume the external IP is changing on a regular basis but the DDNS service automatically updates it. i am testing a tp link nano router at home in order to create a hardwired Ethernet connection at my alarm panel, wirelessly from my EE router. worked a treat but the other day could not connect. my external ip had changed but no-ip had not automatically updated it. am I missing something here? or is this a limitation of free DDNS services?
  4. which way is up? do your cables enter from the bottom or top?

  7. during the day they can, but unless they have our emergency number they cannot call out of hours. when I mean work I mean installations. we do none contract call outs, no problem.
  8. While we are on the subject of RSS, I have version 2.12 or 2.21 (not 100% sure which one) on disc. can this be updated to most recent version once the disc is installed?
  9. as part of the inspectors job file audit he always checks there is a maintenance agreement in place. we always issue log books to all disciplines - and do not carry out any work without maintenance.
  10. have you fed my MD to the Pirates yet by the way?
  11. nobody taught you how to use the quote function over on the .com version?
  12. to be honest I think it's cheap.
  13. to be honest I've always thought Charlie was an old member under a different guise. Jason, in the eyes of NSI you must certificate all your installations. add the cost of the cert onto the job otherwise it comes off your bottom line straight away.
  14. £52 and a few pennies including VAT for intruder element.
  15. To be honest mate unless you have a right #### he'll appreciate that it's your first inspection. It is what it is. All year round I make sure we cross all the T's and dot all the I's but he'll always find something which you learn from for the next time.
  16. yes the above are exactly what I had to do
  17. I had some problems with a homehub a while back. even though you think you are opening ports, it just wasn't. eventually I manage to get them open. there's a certain procedure which I can only remember when I am logged into one. it was actually Lwillis that got me through it IIRC
  18. We are still on pins. Think I need some sia in my life.
  19. Brilliant. So when an engineer returns to site for a service visit, he inputs the seed code and the account number and it spits out the engineer code? How does the engineer know the seed code?
