  1. If the system is a Pyronix, setup for UDL and UDL enabled in the user menu(default is enabled) an ex engineer can login anytime he likes via the cloud and play around with the settings without any alert being created ? I have no idea if each insite download is registered to a user but hopefully it is.

Hi guys, hope you’re all safe? I know this has been asked a thousand times and will probably get me some grief for asking again but hey ho.
what are the regs for an intruder alarm and a fire system sharing a dualcom? I’m assuming a few things, it has to be fire rated point to point seems obvious but how  can the alarm panel be fire rated? Surely that’s the week point? Like drilling a hole in a fire rated door or wall and not using fire stop etc.? Obviously it’s just easier to use two separate dualcom’s but then the cost goes way up. Anyway, hope this isn’t too annoying. Thanks in advance guys.

It is now common practice for the transmission of fire alarm signals to an ARC to be routed via the alarm routing
equipment of an intruder alarm system. Notwithstanding that the mains power supplies, cable types and cable
routing for this alarm routing equipment might not necessarily conform to the recommendations of this part of
BS 5839, this practice is regarded as acceptable and need not be regarded as a variation from the recommendations
of this standard. However, standby battery capacity and any cable between the CIE and the alarm routing
equipment needs to conform to the recommendations of this part of BS 5839.

Hi, can anyone give me the correct answer, my security company is going to Furlough myself and five engineers, but we have been told we still have to go on the call out rota, surely when Furloughed you can not do any type of work for that company ?

I've now heard of a couple of companies doing the same thing. Engineers are to offer phone assistance and as a last resort attend site. I imagine there will be a fair few faults that will need an engineer visit. I guess no-one will find out and even if they did no action would be taken.

Unique generator based on account number and contract number is what I use. We can have 20 mixed systems on a single site, all have different engineer codes.  Far more secure this way, it’s rare but if and when a customer wants to leave for whatever reason, we issue the code on written request and if accounts are paid up as it’s no good on any other site

So how would the engineer know each code? Some kind of app that he has to enter the account and contract number?

    Hello,

I'm just wondering about the amount of hardware you can add to a GD-C048 with the available address line.

The instructions say I can have 8 keypads (3 prox), 4 RIOs and 4 RF RIOs

It seems you can add lots of stuff but much of it is limited by the rotary address switches and there appears to be some overlap.

Is a keypad on address 2 the same as a RIO on address 2?

Basically, I have 3 keypads, 0,1 and 2, along with 3 RIOs and 1 RF RIO which must take addresses 2-5 which means, if they work as the same address, then one must overlap with a keypad, also the RF RIO tried to take up 2 bunches of addresses and in fact keeps appearing as 102x and 103x no matter what I set its switch to be, and why is there a gap between 5-B which I can't seem to use.

    In short, do I need a 96 or above to run 1xTC(prox), 1xMK7(prox), 1xMK8(prox), 3xRIO, 1xRF RIO? It all gets a bit confusing :)

    Cheers,

    Gordon.

Hi guys, do we have a sales section? I’ve acquired a lot of 17Ah battery’s I’d like to move on.
please delete if this is not allowed. I had a look and couldn’t find a more appropriate area.

Keep them they take up too much room on the van and weight too much. I’d rather install an extra PSU

  9. If the external siren tamper switch has a intermittent fault the only way to disable it is by getting the ladders up to it.

Until you get a replacement I would disconnect the siren from the panel. It should sound for 15-20 minutes then stop. In the panel link from 0v to the tamper return terminal(TR). System should then be minus it’s external siren but fault free.

  10. Only way is to replace it.
Personally I would upgrade the external siren approx every 10 years otherwise you may get problems like this. A new external siren suggests you also have the latest intruder system to any would be burglar.

I wouldn’t expect a security light to last 10 years or any other external electrical equipment.
