Installed alarm system into my m8s house (wow) using new pir,s and bell box but with a slightly dated A1 AJ600N control panel. Problem is the bell box has everything built in sounder, strobe, tamper all covered with a clear plastic and access to 5 wiring points, bell + - strobe + ov - and 1 tamper so ? is how do you make tamper circut with only 1 wire and how do i get the srobe to work as up to now all that works is the sounder. Or should I have used seperate sounder and bolt on strobe with a micro switch tamper. thanx .ken

Hiya people! HELP!!! I fitted a accenta compact classic into my nans house a couple of years ago. All been working fine until last month when we had the heavy downpour. The bellbox kept going off and the control panel got very hot nad keypad wouldn't work. Swapped the bellbox as recommended by its supplier. Seemed to fix problem. A week later bellbox siren went of but alarm wasn't in alarm condition. Again, keypad not funtioning and unit very very hot. Rang ADE, got told pcb was prob knackered. Swapped that, still got hot. So swapped the transformer (nothing left to swap!). Did all this last weekend. Called around other night and alarm was …

Time to put the cat among the pigeons. There seems to be some strange advice being given out on how to wire bell boxes. The common opinion seems to be that in day mode removing the bell box cover should not sound the bell. BS 4737 which NACOSS and SSAIB companies install to clearly says that it should. Below is a direct quote from BS 4737 (SEE WHAT YOU THINK) 8.2.5 N4A Operation .The external audible alarm shall sound in the event of an electrical change in its connection(s) to the control equipment or if its tamper detection operates. In these circumstances an alarm condition shall be generated at the control equipment. Otherwise the external audible alarm shall op…

Well I've posted on here before as I started a job in the new year with an alarm company (in their office) which didnt work out. I spent a bit of time (about 5 weeks) out on the road working as an an engineer (doing basic stuff) I enjoyed it so much that I decided to try and get a job somewhere as a trainee engineer (it hasnt been easy as I'm 23 now and most companies take younger trainees on) But I've found a place with a NACOSS recognised company and I'm going to be a bona fide engineer Just wondered if you chaps that have been in the industry for a while have any tips for a newbie. I have almost no elecrical knowledge so I really am starting from scratch!

Sorry if this post has been repeated a thousand times... My mother has just moved house and has taken the guard dog with her so i now have a desperate need of a quality alarm system. I am a mechanic with a good to basic knowledge of electrical setups and have considered installing one myself. The house is in a "Pre Decorative state" so i havent got to be to careful with wall paper etc. Or should i let a experienced installer do the job. If so i need one in the Hayes Middlesex area and i need it fitted by the end of August. My house is a Mid terrace 4 bedroom 2 reception 1 kitchenand 1 downstairs toilet, how much would i be likey to be charged for a wired system? I h…

B) Further to the post of the 14th June regarding the Big 3 companies. Well to bring you all up to speed: According to the FT Chubb were brought by UTC a $26 Billion (45th biggest company in the world) on the 29th July. :?: This is going to be a good one to watch looking at UTC's background. www.utc.com

Here's one for the veterans amongst you. My property has an antique (c '80) system based on a relay-and-micro-switch panel made by G. W. Lowe of Oldham. It still works perfectly (with the original battery that holds a voltage!!) though I doubt for long in a power cut. I want to replace the panel with something like a Menvier TS400, retain the hard bit (the wiring) and replace the original sensors as the windows and doors are being replaced too, keeping the same basic sensor design and mix. My question is really all about sounders and bells and SCB versus SAB. In summary can I use the existing external (and maybe internal) bell as is? There's an external bell box in a t…

Hi, just joined the group and i'm looking for some info. Is it acceptable to have more than one detector on a zone ????????. The exact circumstances would actually involve one PIR and one door contact repeated on two separate zones(i.e. one PIR and one contact per zone). Then would that involve wiring the zone N/C contacts of the 2 devices in series so that either would activate or trigger an alarm ??????????. Many thanks Al.

can somebody tell me how to wire 3 pir together on one zone I want any one to trigger the alarm . At the moment i can only get 2 working together with one tamper switch working.

My house has an Accenta 8 (?) alarm system installed. The system has been in for nearly 5 years. I want to renew the battery in the control box. The installer has changed the Engineering code from default so I can't enter the control box without the alarm going off. Any suggestions ?

I tried to change the code of optima xm6. I did this presuming the instructions because I didn't have any user manual. Now the system is standing on day mode. I could not activate neither by the old code nor the supposed new code. your advice ob how to enable the system would be greately appreciated

Hi there! This is not a review - I am asking for one... Have you heard of this company? Is it reputable? Is anyone familiar with its wireless equipment? Is it reliable? Thanks for your help. Stefano.
