LOL nothing has changed  Simmon. Managment though got clever and check the line length of some jobs that would come back out as repeat reports next day   I take it you were in the field or still are for the marvelous BT

Management are getting clever !, wonder if they still do the old 4 jobs a day quota never-minding if you are working on quick and easy ISDN2 faults or 3 line installations overhead with 10 extensions !

Yes, quite a few years ago now I used to be a T2a in the field for BT, enjoyable times and a good intro to the trade, but very frustrating at times !

LOL Yep same as you was T2a now we are classed as B2s Still have the stats to hit like 4 + jobs a day but it is easier if you are not multi skilled as I was before September. Quite easily clear enough jobs to keep them of my back. Yes they are good times but as you say it can be very frustrating. Still they fund my company ok so I cant moan to much ;)

The 4-jobs a day used to drive me up the wall, when I was on, they kept doing experiements with classifying different groups for a week into install and maintenance, on maintenance, no problems - 4 jobs a day, rememer picking up a load of faults in some big departmnet store (about 20 lines dis to little sub-outlets), cleared all 20 in a few hours (BT Systems engineer had got confused and ripped all the jumpers out tof the NTTP !).

Then next, started install week and got a res install for some BT top manager, couple of lines with 4 extns off each (massive house) - all to different places (including the toilet !) and needed to run about 4 spans of OH Dropwire 10. Long day, bloody worked hard and got a sarcy text from manager the next day about only doing one job !

No common-sense, just statistics, once you get to know some of the guys in control, was not a problem as they would ask for and return favours, keep you close to home as long as you cleared their business ISDN2 or analogue faults quickly, hence then the 4 jobs a day was easy and you could keep the management "off your back".

Never could understand how you could work really hard all day and still be under-performing though !

No Probs Monteey. E-side is the main cable to the PCP (Green Box)from the exchange and D-Side is the cables that go from the PCP to the DP or NTTP. Except if the cable is EO then it goes directley to the DP

So i assume E means Exchange and D Distribution then or am i being too logical?

Oh and what is WM Wireless Management?

Yep good guess and logical thinking ! E-side from exchange to PCP (Primary Connection Point or Green Cabinet on side of road), D -Side from PCP to Customer as Smart said (via DP Distribution Point - Pole, Underground Joint etc etc).

WM is the Work Manager, which is the fast, modern and highely efficient semi-computerised job-allocation system for engineers to pick up jobs and information.

Ha Ha wireless, not when I was on BT, still had to be plugged into the telephone line or held to handset of payphone with the acoustic coupler which did not work, have they though getting a wireless system yet Smart ?
