Elmdene 7422-en Alarm won't stop! How do I disconnect?

Featured Replies

Hi

I've read through a few threads and it looks like people on here know what's happening.

I had solar installed 2 days ago. At the time, the sparks accidently turned on an old Elmdene alarm system (*not used in 10 years).

He managed to turn it off, but it turned itself back on at midnight this eve.

I switched off the fuses at the mains but outside still ringing.

I rang ADT and looked elsewhere but all brutal advice. Anyone here have ideas how to turn it off without killing myself or blowing up the house? Or even, who I might contact?

Alarms aren't magic they don't switch on and off like that. They require commissioning and decommissioning by an alarm engineer.

They are designed so they can't be bypassed in a power cut without activating.

If they are maintained regularly alarms do not activate during a power loss and can run from backup for 8 hours or more.

You should contact the installer, failing that find some other installer to "decommission" it.

Or if DIY go up a ladder and mess with it at your own risk.

Not sure if considered "brutal" as would be messing about up ladders with possible high voltages.
