August 16, 20206 yr comment_504093 It's an old Bentley Alpha 2/4 probably been in service for 40 years or more. "Know anything" is a bit too open ended question really. August 16, 20206 yr comment_504095 The first panel I fitted back in the late 80's was one of these, the bell will most likely have been built up by the company who fitted the system. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool. August 16, 20206 yr comment_504099 Taking it out of commission will probably do everyone a favour. Systems that are sat unmaintained are just asking for issues in the early hours. Currently a tamper fault on it too. For some reason it's common for people to think a security system will work forever with no maintenance. August 17, 20206 yr Author comment_504103 i had a chat with the owners yesterday, he said there are even pressure mats at the bottom of each window! apparently the system was installed in 1990, the company that originally fitted it is now long gone. it hasnt been used for about 10 years, they stopped using it because it always falsed etc. all the doors in the house have recessed contacts, quite a lot of the doors have been swapped etc. and contacts havnt been put back again. quite a few wires stick out in various places so occasionally it goes off when hoovering etc. it hasn't had any maintenance since the day it was fitted 30 years ago. trying to find the tamper fault would be like chasing a rat in 100 acre field, there are so many reasons why this system should be shut down! there are 2 live external sounders, hopefully the backup batteries have died.
