Moving Gardtec Control Panel

Featured Replies

I have an old gardtec alarm, possibly a 370 as the menus seem to match what I found in a manual online.

I am looking to move the control panel to a different part of the house.

Is this a straightforward process?

I only have the master code and not an engineer code for the alarm.

I have run a new cable to the new location so am I ok to disconnect the existing control panel wire and just replace with the new one?

Should I disconnect the power before doing so or will it give me less grief doing so with the power on? I know the other panels dont operate from battery power.

Thanks for any help.

I'm assuming you're on about moving the remote keypad, not the control panel?, as there will be multiple cables to the end station.

Moving the rkp is straightforward, but you need to take into consideration how you get to it when setting/unsetting the alarm, if you have to pass anymore pirs than you do as it stands at present, you will need to program those detectors to allow access to the rkp to unset the alarm, or else it will activate before you can get to disarm.

This will need engineers access to make the required programming changes.

We would require more information before giving a definitive answer to your question.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it is just the remote keypad. There are 2 keypads in the system though if this makes any difference.

Fortunately the new location is really just the opposite end of a hallway so the exact same pir sensors need to be passed to access the new location.

Then it's quite easy to do, the only thing to be aware of really with regards to programming, is if the system has been setup for engineer reset on tamper.

Obviously you will cause a tamper when you remove the rkp lid, and this may require an engineers reset.

Though tbh I would be pretty sure it won't be progged for anything other than user reset, ie your code.

And, as Al-Yeti, has suggested, easy enough to do live, if your very careful not to allow cores on the cable to touch.

I have had the cover off the keypad and the main panel before and managed to reset using my code so should be ok then.

Thanks for the help.
