Alarm bell / siren not working

Featured Replies

Hi all wonderif you can help me,

I have a optima plus 2 alarm panal and when the alarm sirens the bellbox dosn't. the strobe however, does flash. I've gone into engineering mode and run the test on both the strobe and the bell. Strobe works fine but not the bell. I've even tried a different core of wire but still the same. changed the fuse that said Bell/Strobe also. So, i thought the bell had died. I brought a new bellbox and im still getting the same results. this panal was installed in 97 so its quite old and normaly, i'd get a new one fitted but we are looking to move house by this time next year so rather then get a new one i thought id try and get this sorted to tie me over till then.

Any ideas? applogies if this is lacking in info, im at work at the moment but if there is anything im missing, then please advise me and i'll explain further.

Thanks in advance.

have you tested the bell output with a metre?

I haven't actually, i'll do that tonight when i get back in. it's on a  - feed but will i still get a voltage readout on a metre?

If i don't, does that mean the board is caput?

Another thought, could i use the siren feed and link that to the bell so i have the bell and siren off the same feed on the panal if that makes sense?
