some old 480tvl camera's and views on picture quality and just general build quality of the item

its probably not worth it. there will be  a slight quality improvement but d1 is only 0.3 megapixel

I would say don't bother. 

 

I would advise you to get a REALLY good lens and then put it into a decent case.  

 

What does your shop sell,  Depends of type shop would depends on type of camera/system
