September 19, 200421 yr comment_23806 I am thinking of installing floodlamps around my own house, 3 x 500watt halogen ones. What is the best and most efficent method of wiring this to my existing alarm panel ? (veritas r8). do I need some sort of controller? Or can i simply trigger a relay off the intruder output to switch the live? any suggestions appreciated please. September 19, 200421 yr comment_23807 I did the same thing for a customer once 4x500 watt floods pulsed on/off (20secs/5secs). But simply switching a diode protected 12v mains relay from the control panel worked a treat in the 1st instance. ........................................................ September 19, 200421 yr Author comment_23809 great, so i just need a normal 12volt relay then with built in diodes? September 19, 200421 yr comment_23818 use octal based relays from rs. www.rswww.co.uk The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! (Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not) Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/3623-lighting-controller-maybe/#findComment-23818 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 September 19, 200421 yr comment_23820 Yeah you can buy them with the diode in, or just supply your own. Its just to stop any back EMF from the relay coil. Just need to make sure you get a relay over-rated for the job, that can easily switch the wattage you require. ........................................................ September 19, 200421 yr comment_23844 I always swap the 500's for 300's and there never seems to be much difference in the output for a 40% drop in power consumption Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/3623-lighting-controller-maybe/#findComment-23844 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
