Just wanted to say hi and let you know why I am here.

I currently run a fire alarm company, which we are now finding more and more clients are asking us to service their intruder alarm as well. Looking at sending one of my engineers on a course to build our competence on intruder alarms, and also I think this site will be very useful source of information.

Thanks Steve.

Hello and welcome.

Stay away from intruder, you wont be able to sleep at night. LOL

imo intruder is a pain in comparison to fire, totally different mindset of customer. Intruder customers want a kidney for £200 pa. walk away I say.

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

It's ironic, every security company our way now has BAFE - it's not worth the paper it's written on anymore.. If I could ditch all intruder work and do fire 100% I'd be a happy man!

Thanks for the advice, we would not normally touch intruder, but when they want the fire, intruder and CCTV all done by the same company can't really turn it down. We only work in commercial buildings, so the contracts are normally quite large.

Good luck. The problem with doing that if starting from scratch is there are soo many different makes models/variations. You really need to have a good basic knowledge on all. What you going to do about monitored systems/locked panels?

You'd be better finding an ex intruder service engineer, then you train him up with your fire tbh
