Just watched it again, if you notice hes ( assume its a he) does not even use full magnification.

Its mentioned Yosemite National Park, so must be for poachers and fire warnings as its main workload.

Maybe even assist in lost hikers.

Whatever they use it for its a damn fine camera.

I have seen something like this before, essentially it was a number of lower res stills patched together into a single image and not necessarily taken by a single camera. Impressive though!
