galaxy 504 line 1 has a mind of its own!!!

Featured Replies

Hi there, i am in the middle of installing a large galaxy 504 system, 45 + mods.

The problem is that line one seems to have a mind of its own, by that i mean that when i introduce new rio's, and keypad onto the system and then exit engineer mode to scan the line for new mods added, it does not come up with them! and it is telling me that i have removed a module or two elsewhere!

The cabling is correctly done using belden, is a perfect radial circuit and i have fitted a 680 eol on all lines.

Lines 2,3 and 4 are fine it is just line one. I have tried introducing new mods into the system by wiring them right next to the panel and it still will not pick them up! And I have nowhere near exceeded the amount of mods you can have on line 1.

It's just the keypadsthat wont come up, all the rios are on now. Any ideas?

Any help welcomed

cheers

Have u tried swapping lines and seeing if the fault moves with the line?

The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct!

(Except when I'm wrong)(which I'm not)

I am pretty sure that happens due to a software problem, seem to recall someone posting about this previously.

This link will take you to the post i was thinking about but it was an RFI problem, not software. Anyway maybe it will help some as there are some good fault finding idea's here.

Is there a telecom module plugged on to the circuit board via actual plugs on the pcb ?

No PMs please unless i know you or you are using this board with your proper name.

Have you checked for the ever dreaded earth fault. I know its a new install but it does happen.......

have you got too many mods on line one?try removing all from line one then add one by one, could be a problem with the line driver not coping with a certain amount of mods

there are some addresses reserved on line 1, 13 upwards I think, try changing them to lower numbers.

Also make sure you aren't fitting too many prox keypads on one line as there are only a few allowed, 0,1,2,3 I think..

my bet is that you've got a short from the screen to a purlin.... has happened before and my meter couldnt see it! Follow the cable run esp thru corrugated sheets....
