November 16, 201015 yr comment_258028 old vt but still apt, maybe more so as we start to rely(?) on alternative (to hyro) renewable energy. Largest wind farm in world (whitstable) aint no good if in doldrums at the end of corrie etc. Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/30158-britain-is-unique/ Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 November 16, 201015 yr comment_258034 wow I presume its a bit more automated now? I also thought that 50 Hz was constant. I suppose as the load increases the turbines slow down? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. November 16, 201015 yr comment_258038 Makes getting a decent solar panel(s) on your roof and selling some back. God knows what the price hikes are going to be like. Also thinking of changing from British Gas, nice of them to increase prices as the winter/xmas starts. November 16, 201015 yr Author comment_258040 would take decades to get money back on solar panels. the wind farm was/is subsidised by (eu phah) taxpayer (danish firm made/fitted) called carbon offsetting. With reduced bills as well. Not saying its a overnight killing but it looks a better option if your able to do it. November 16, 201015 yr comment_258045 There's nothing unique about that, the same happens over here but on a smaller scale. Our system peak is around 5000MW so 3000MW of kettles is impressive. www.realsecurity.ie Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/30158-britain-is-unique/#findComment-258045 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 Our system peak is around 5000MW so 3000MW of kettles is impressive. had a link from Irish tv abt teapots per capita, cant find it, basically saying you guys prefer pot & cosy, us guys too lazy & given up these days so keep boiling & tea bag in cup. Also wonder abt ownership/capita of electric to gas kettles. Last time when staying in cork, had pint whilst waiting for kettle to boil (true - was under missus orders too).
