if it has a tag on it, why not leave it at reception like everyone else does?

I have always took it with me. I don't like the idea of just quoting a room number and getting the key

Hotels that still use keys ain't gonna be moving to hitec wizzy features on mobiles anytime soon.

Yep too damn expensive to install.

Probably wont even fit over existing locking systems.

Also some locking systems are high tec in their own right and have a long shelf life left in them.

More than likley new builds only.

I think its a good idea. I do lock my phone, I can also remotely wipe it

agreed its only the more modern places, but security to get your key seems lax, in the past i ony quoted a room number, sometimes a surname too but thats all.

So decided to keep the key/card on me

the hotels i stay in remember me after initial registration, so dont have that problem.
