james.wilson Posted September 19, 2010 Share Posted September 19, 2010 got ya. still be cautious with raid 5. id say raid 5 was ok for 8 drives, but if its critical id use a hot spare. but to be fair it is a dvr so storage space is probably more important. the only thing that would really concern me is the use of consumer drives. Im assuming you have specced enterprise drives? edit also get some ram in the other sockets, you should balance them 'ideally' 32 bit os id assume of so 2 gig in each fsb would be better. looks like intel procs. but they may be nehalhem based? if so less of a cencern. i7 xeons? another edit. what spec procs? and how many cams per box, and at what res/fr? securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. Far better than expected and my customer thaught the same. Far better image quality than most of the anolog fixed cameras already on site even over the network.
