February 18, 200917 yr comment_225214 Hi Everyone Joined th forum as a novice with a problem on my alarm that is bugging me , This alarm was fitted in my house before i moved in ,it is a veritas r8 and the internal sounder only keeps going off intermittently the sound is the same as the tamper sound.Sometimes it goes of 5 times in one night and will not always stop on the entry of code and reset .Other times it will be ok for aweek and then off it goes again .As i said i am an amateur at these things , but i have noticed that on of the keypad buttons has not worked the first time on a number of occasions is this related. At the moment mains, battery outside sounder batteries ara all disconnected.any ideas from you guys would be appreciated. February 18, 200917 yr comment_225216 What is displayed on the panel after you cancel the tamper-like condition. Also if a button in your code number is faulty, try changing the number to avoid that button, though better still replace the panel. Thanks for the reply it is a few weeks since this last happened and if i can remmember it was just the unset light that came on i think that if a red zone light had have come on it would have given me a clue. THE whole thing is disconnected at the moment and it might be a few days before i would fault again if i connected it all back . February 19, 200917 yr comment_225316 You could try replacing the backup battery in the panel, I had a similar problem recently and the battery was the problem. February 19, 200917 yr comment_225327 Yep ..... if they aren't serviced for years they tend to fail. Agreed, the service is important...and leads to many problems if not done..veritas are usually worth the effort... for my two pennies worth-if the keypad is given you troubles then you can buy a new panel and key for just over the price of a keypad....as AG was eluding to earlier more cost effective to replace both... and do not forget about the service.
