Veritas R8 Tamper Fault Problems (fuse F2 Blowing)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Veritas R8 Alarm system and have a problem or two? The internal buzzer sounds randomly and shows a tamper fault on the keypad LED. Whilst trying to find the fault I checked the main panel and it seemed that F2 fuse (bell & strobe) was blown. I replaced this and after a few hours/days it blew again. I have also replaced the battery recently. It seems that the 2-off movement sensor also dont work after the fuse has blown.

I am wondering what steps to take to isolate the problem, i have full access control to the panel. My other option whould be to rip it out and install a new system. Any help would be much appiciated.

Thanks

Want the cheapest option?

Call in an alarm company with experience of the Veritas panels. They'll be able to identify the fault(s) & offer rectification.

No carpets, But most of the cabling runs up to the loft and then down the walls to the sensors or keypad. I'm wondering if i damaged one of the cables when i installed a few floorboards in the loft.

Whats the best way to check the cables? resistance meter?

thanks

Hi

1st thing disconect the bell cable and place link between 0v & TP, replace blown fuse. Try system again, if tamp fault still occurs change battery. If everything is now fine you need to trace the bell cable fault.
