heard a local radio item -:

many qualified an honest drivers are bing fined for driving while unaware their driving licence has expired, they had not realised as stated in the small print, the newer Photo ID licence is only valid for 10 years from issue, where as the old ones were to when you reached 70 (i think).

i suggest you check yours pronto - before you cop another benial 'motorists tax' due to bad publicity of his fact

it's because if has a photo on it just like passports i assume.

10yrs on most of us look "different" and need the picture changed.

can you imaging passing your test at 17 and still having the same picture 20-50 years later!

no its just renewal, but that may change.

those who like me originally had paper licences will and have assumed the id ones lasted to old age, who reads a licence apart to see the name and address is corect?

i moved a few years ago so had to have my details changed meaning a photo licence 'upgrade', so avoided falling into the 10 year trap, but would have done most likely had i not heard the ocal radio item.
