Wiring A Scantronic Homelink75 Panel To Ext Bell

I am trying to connect a homelink 75 panel to a GE AS580 external sounder,

Scantronic have provided a diagram where I need to use a relay and a resistor, however, they do not point out which pins are which in the relay and we now thtink we have it correct but the bell will light up ok and give the led sequence correct but will not sound, can anyonme help?

The diagram they sent is attached, the relay we used is a 5 pin 12V automotive relay where we assume the following pins are :

30 = (common) to Z34 via resistor

85 = -ve from TR of Bell

86 = +ve from power supply

87 = to Z34 of panel

We would much appreciate some help on this.

you will need a 12v relay, your 5v one will not handle 12v for long.

The 2k2 resistor is not to lower the voltage its required as the homelink needs an eol resistor for zone monitoring.

If you get a 12v relay the markings will match and it will have the correct screw terminals.

Hi, Thanks for response, we are using a 5 pin 12V relay, there is no markings on the relay

then we have no way to tell you. You could meter the relay to get the coil and the common and n/c, but id really buy a proper relay they aint much

As far as I can see, the relay is purely for the tamper circuit.

According to the diagram, you need an external 12v power supply (with battery back-up).

Connect:

+ from the PSU to +Hold off on the bell,

- from the PSU to -Hold off on the bell,

the N/O terminal on the Panel output 1 to the bell trigger terminal on the bell,

the N/O terminal on the Panel output 2 to the strobe trigger terminal on the bell,

Connect a - from your PSU to both the C terminals (Outputs 1 & 2).

At this point, after you have programmed the outputs,the bell and strobe should function correctly. Then you can worry about the relay. Using the 12v car relay will be fine, just use a multimeter to find out which pins are for the coil etc.

You do need an external 12v power supply for this alarm unfortunatley.

Never used one, but surely there is a regulated 12v supply in the panel to hold off a SAB?

The Home link 75 is for W/Free only as it comes (you can wire 2 zones Door contacts No 12v supply ) Thought if using normal SAB bell you had to use a 770R module (wam ) and remote power supply to cover power interruptions we have fitted quite a few panels but are in the middle of a job where we are going to use a normal bell (here their is a new bell on the way to replace existing wire free one )
