basilb
I am looking at upgrading my current 4 cam Geo card (GV800) with a 8 camera card (can't have too many cameras). This seller on ebay from Canada sells a few but the prices seem too low. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/GeoVision-GV-1240-8...Q2em118Q2el1247 The picture looks like an authentic card when compared to a picture on the Geovision site but i wonder if anyone has experience with buying these cards on ebay as I've heard of fakes being sold before. I've been stung before with a fake CPU chip & don't want to get caught again. Authentic piccy on Fleabay is not going to ensure you get the genuine product. End of the day its a case of Caveat Emptor, especially on that web site. arfur mo
Cubit gives sound advice (or should that be 'illuminated ), Geovision suffers from being one the most copied kit on the planet, so you might get a card that closely resembles but it may will not be an original. fine if it works - but if it don't? regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!! james.wilson
Agreed Geovision change the parameters on the software to detect the pirated cards so when a software is released they may stop working. ScorpioInstallations
The unit will have a bar-code on the back, if you ask the seller what it is you can email GeoVision and ask them to verify the card, Be warned GeoVision prohibit any of their retailers to sell on ebay. basilb
I haven't asked for barcode yet - still trying to suss them out I got a pricelist from Jetview & it was higher than the ebay price. That makes me suspicious. As said Geo do not authorise selling on ebay, however I guess that doesn't stop someone doing that does it? Chorlton
if it seems to cheap it probably is. ebaY os OK so long as what your buying can't be faked IMO. better to spend 20% more or genuine kit than loose $1 on fake stuff IMO as it sticks in the throat. Do they have a phone number? might be worth the cost of a int call to answer some Q's. C.
